Novice Prep School

Class Description: The Novice Prep class is important, because it is the foundation for the higher levels and gives the handler the opportunity to work with their dog in a show ring setting. Dogs should learn to be confident, steady, and motivated workers. This class will include working with Rally signs, motivated heel exercises including: the figure 8, learning to get attention from your dog even when distracted, fun recalls, fronts, a steady confident sit with exam, the sit stay while you walk around the ring, and the recall from approximately 25 feet away.

Prerequisites: To participate in this class, dogs must have taken basic and intermediate classes and/or Rally Novice classes. You do not have to have a title.
What to bring: Come to class with plenty of training treats and the motivation to have fun!

Novice Competition

Description: This class is geared to those who are interested in competing for their CD title. The novice level will be your foundation for the Open and Utility levels where your dogs will need to learn to work away from you. Your dogs will learn to be confident, steady motivated workers. This class will include motivated heel exercises for on and off leash, training tips for the figure 8 exercise, learn to get attention from your dog even when distracted, fun recalls, tips for fronts and finishes, a steady confident stand for exam, sit and down stays, and sit stay get your leash. We will also address a jackpot jar and tugging for motivation.
Prerequisite: To participate in this class dogs must have taken at least a basic or CGC class it is also helpful to take our Novice Prep School class. Dogs do not have to have a title.
What to Bring: Bring a 6’ leash, a short heel leash, assorted treats, and the motivation to have fun!

Open Classes

CO Open Pre-Trial Prep/Beginner Utility

Description In this class students will learn to do all the open exercises in a complete format so they can navigate through a trial run through smoothly and know how to move from one exercise to the next and keep their dogs focused and on task. Those dogs that are not quite ready for a trial run in all the open exercises will continue to practice with instruction for as long as they need to do the total exercises.
Students will continue to learn the very beginning of the Utility exercises by breaking down parts of each exercise to make it simplified for students and their dogs. This format will be used throughout the duration of the utility level classes as we move forward.

Prerequisite: Dogs and handlers should be familiar with all the open level exercises. Dogs and handlers do not need to be familiar with the utility level exercises. No titles required.
What to Bring: Bring your happy eager to learn dogs, along with a short heel leash, collar tab, dumbbell, tug toy, clicker, utility scent articles, gloves, targets, assorted treats, jackpot jar.

Advanced Special Purpose Classes

Performance Perfected For The Obedience Ring

Description: Improve various ways of performing the Novice exercises enthusiastically. Teach skills that the dog already learned, but is not proficient at, thus making them more comfortable for the dog and handler. Or, try another method which might be more suitable to the dog. This would also address ring procedures, emphasizing when to get ready to enter the ring, the best time to warm up the dog, having the confidence to more from one exercise to another quickly.

What to Bring: Must be familiar with all Novice level exercises. No titles required.
