Novice Drill

Date/time: Mondays @ 5:00-5:45 through May 21st. No class 5/28; 6/4; 6/11; 6/18.
Restarts Monday, June 25, 2018 and continues through August 13, 2018.

Cost: $10 nonmembers/$8 members

Novice Obedience Class

Class Description: The competition novice level is important, because it is the foundation for the higher levels. Dogs should learn to be confident, steady, and motivated workers, as this will set the tone for open and utility levels. This class will include motivated heel exercises including: the figure 8, learn to get attention from your dog even when distracted, fun recalls, fronts and finishes, a steady confident stand with exam, the new updated version of sit and down stays, and the new exercise “sit stay-get your leash”.
Prerequisites: To participate in this class, dogs must have taken basic classes and/or CGC classes. Dog does not have to have a title.
What to bring: Come to class with plenty of training treats and the motivation to have fun!

Open Classes

Open Foundation Part III


Class Description: This class is designed to help students perfect and proof the open exercises. We will put exercises together and do them in a ring ready format and learn ring etiquette. We will work on raising the jump for the dogs that have not reached their maximum jump height. We will continue to work on motivation for off leash heeling with tricks and tugging.

Prerequisites: To participate in this class dogs should have a retrieve or have started on the dumbbell. Know novice level exercises and be familiar with open level exercises. Know your jump height. Titles not necessary.

What to Bring:Short heeling leash, collar tab, dumbbell, string cheese and other assorted treats, jackpot jar and a tug toy.

Utility Classes

Utility Foundation I

Description This class is designed for dogs just starting on utility level exercises. We will break down each exercise and learn it from the ground up using motivational games to keep dogs interested. We will work on confidence building as dogs in utility must work away from you.
This level is challenging and really rewarding. So be prepared to have fun.

Prerequisite: Dogs should be familiar with open level exercises/ be able to jump and retrieve. No titles necessary.
What to Bring: Scent articles, set of 3 gloves, a target, tug toy, assorted treats and a jackpot jar.
