Therapy dog class with testing offered in August 2013 at OTCPBC

We are pleased to offer testing for the Canine Good Citizen Title and Therapy Dogs International certification. Here are the class details:

Start Date: Wednesday, August 7, 2013 @ 7:00 pm

Duration: 7 weeks

Cost: $100 nonmembers/$80 members. Additional fees (approximately $45) will be payable to American Kennel Club and Therapy Dogs International.

Pre-requsite: Basic (Level One) obedience or equivalent. This class is for socialized, trained dogs who already respond to basic obedience cues in a public setting. They should not have a history of fear or aggression. They should be able to walk without pulling and sit and lie down on command in the presence of other dogs. They should be capable of an offlead sit/stay and down/stay. This is a preparatory class for dogs ready to begin work in a therapy dog setting. All 7 weeks will be spent getting ready for and passing the Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International examinations.

No puppies, please.

If you are interested in therapy dog work, but your dog is untrained or less than twelve months old, please consider our Level One (Basic) class.

Therapy dog graduates are strongly encouraged to participate in regular visits and complete the AKC ThD title.

Duration: 7 weeks (includes Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dogs International examination)

Instructor: Marti Hohmann CPDT-KA

Content: This first three weeks of this class will prepare and test your well-trained dog for the Canine Good Citizen title. The last four weeks will prepare and test dogs for the new Therapy Dogs International exam.
