Obedience Classes

After puppy classes or getting started…

Dogs who are just starting out should enroll in Basic Obedience. Even if your dog sits and shakes at home, please enroll in Basic Obedience unless you are sure he will listen and respond to your cues 9 out of 10 times the first time you ask in a group setting. You’ll be glad you took your time!

Continuing on …

Graduates of Basic Obedience should take an intermediate level obedience class. Dogs beyond Intermediate may enroll in the Canine Good Citizen class. Therapy dog prospects should start in either Basic, Intermediate, or CGC, depending on their level of training prior to starting class with us. Teams may also be interested in our Tricks, Rally, Agility, Scent Work/Nose Work or Tracking classes.

Vaccination Requirements: DHP, Rabies.

Our obedience classes are not designed to rehabilitate dogs who behave aggressively toward other dogs. Aggressive behavior includes barking and lunging on leash. Contact Us for a referral on these issues.

Class Policies:

Class registration closes 72 hours in advance of the class start date. You must preregister online in order to attend a class. Classes are subject to cancellation or date changes at the discretion of OTCPBC training staff.

Because class size is limited and sufficient time is necessary to contact alternate students, class tuition may only be refunded if notice, in writing or by email, is received seven (7) business days prior to the start date of a class by the instructor or the director. OTCPBC does not offer partial refunds, make-up lessons, private instruction in lieu of group classes, or the transfer of monies from one class to another.

We do not offer make-ups, private lessons, or transfers of monies from one class to another for any reason, including the onset of estrus in bitches. Handlers may not “drop in” to classes unless the class is a designated “drop in” class.

Our basic obedience classes are not designed to rehabilitate dogs who behave aggressively toward other dogs. Aggressive behavior includes barking and lunging on leash. Contact us at otcpbc@gmail.com for a referral on these issues.

A 20% discount for club members who meet the volunteer hours requirement will be calculated before the registration form is submitted.
