Canine Good Citizen Classes

We endorse the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen program as a measure of good manners in companion and competition dogs. More than 700,000 dogs have passed the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen exam nationwide. It is an important milestone in successful therapy and service dog training.

Canine Good Citizen Class

This is the first level of Canine Good Citizen (CGC) designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.
Prerequisites: Completed Basic Obedience and/or Intermediate Obedience classes.
What to Bring: Soft, easily swallowed treats, buckle collar, 6 Ft leash. Pinch collars or head halters are not permitted.
Starts: Wednesday, 1/10/2018 @ 8 PM
Duration: 6 weeks

Canine Good Citizen Advanced Class

AKC Community Canine is the advanced level of AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program. As with CGC, AKC Community Canine has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Community Canine title (CGCA).

Start Date: Wednesday, 6/6/2018 @ 6:30 PM Will open for registration about 6 weeks before class start.
This class will meet at the clubhouse at this time the first night only. Subsequent sessions will be at different locations; class will start at 6:30 PM pm.
Duration: 6 weeks
Prerequisites: Training through the CGC exam.
What to Bring: Soft, easily swallowed treats, buckle collar, 6 Ft leash. Pinch collars or head halters are not permitted.

CGC Urban Class

This class prepares dogs with city survival skills. Urban CGC testing is conducted at community destinations that offer the distractions this test requires.
Prerequisites: Training through the CGC exam.

Starts: Wednesday, 2/28/2018 @ 6:30 PM

CGC Advanced Exam

AKC Community Canine is the advanced level of AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program.To earn the AKC Community Canine title (CGCA), dogs must already have a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) award or title on record at AKC.

As with CGC, AKC Community Canine has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Community Canine title.

Urban CGC Exam

AKC Urban CGC requires that the dog demonstrate CGC skills and beyond in an urban setting. As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC.
