Rally Signs

Imagine a circuit course for dogs. Your dog is off leash, and you guide him from sign to sign, following the instructions on each. At your command, he leaps over a jump, then comes back to you. After about 90 seconds of obedience and 10-20 signs, you cross the finish line, and everybody cheers.

Our Rally program offers classes and practice opportunities at all levels. Our instructors have competed through multiple levels of Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE), the highest Rally title AKC awards. Two are AKC Rally judges.

The intermediate level in competition is done on-leash and includes Rally Novice and Rally Advanced signs, but there will not be a jump required on this course. Intermediate level signs can be included in advanced and excellent level courses in competition.

Rally Excellent

The excellent level is challenging and really fun as it incorporates moving downs and stands, sending to a jump as well as backing up while in heel position. These skills are really exciting to learn. In competition dogs would perform off leash but in class we encourage you to stay on leash to insure dogs are clear about each sign behavior. As in all rally levels handlers may give verbal encouragement to their dogs all through the course. No title is needed to participate in this class.

Prerequisites: Dog/handler team must have the ability to perform Rally Intermediate/Advanced as well as basic obedience skills especially heeling.

Start Date: TBD
Duration: 6 weeks
Instructor: Peggy DeMinico
What to bring: Buckle or Martingale collar, 6-foot leash and small, easy to swallow treats.
Cost: $129 (20% discount for members who worked 20 volunteer hours in 2017)

Rally Masters

Come join us for an exciting new level of rally, the Rally Master class (RM)! This level has 28 signs that can only be used in master courses. In competition you would perform off leash and there would be no retries. Courses would have a minimum of 3 advanced level signs 3 excellent level signs and 4 Master level signs and one jump. Dogs will earn the RM title after earning 10 qualifying scores under at least two different judges. To COMPETE in this level dogs must have earned the RE title. In this class we will learn all the signs before including them in courses. The signs are fun but challenging.

Prerequisites: Dogs should have a familiarity with lower level signs and know basic skills as well as heeling. No title required to join this class.
